Hans and Margret Rey, German Jews, composed the first Curious George manuscript while fleeing the Nazis. They were among the fortunate few who were able to get to the United States where they continued to write these now classic tales of a daring and clever monkey.

  • Itzhak, a warm, personal, and loving portrayal of the challenges and accomplishments of Itzhak Perlman has been described by Robert Ebert as “a musical film about music and life.” Perlman and his wife Toby, who has family roots in Vermont, have a unique connection to Stowe. For four consecutive years (2011-2014) young musicians of the Perlman Music Program performed at Spruce Peak Performing Arts.

  • It is said that the Shekinah, the feminine aspect of God, must rise before the Messiah can come. Traveling to St. Agathe, Quebec, Crown Heights, New York, Paris, London, and Jerusalem, the filmmakers visit young women who are asserting themselves within the Hasidic world. Montreal filmmakers Abby Neidick and Irene Angelico, will join us for the evening and lead a Q&A following the screening.

  • A riveting against-all-odds story of Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s taking the European Championship in 1977. Told through the eyes of the six American players who joined the Maccabi team, the film rolls out against the background of several dire historic events: the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the 1972 massacre at the Munich Olympics, and the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight from Tel Aviv to Entebbe.
