Workshop participants create a lasting piece of art.

Community members will come together this summer to create a welcoming mosaic mural at JCOGS. We have commissioned artist Bette Ann Libby to head up this project. During a two-day workshop Aug. 26-27, participants will create a mosaic on the theme Olam Chesed, a world of loving-kindness. This permanent mosaic mural, 54-by-48 inches wide, will be installed on the wall above the stairwell in the JCOGS lobby. Over the past 14 years, Bette Ann has organized community workshops and has worked with groups to create numerous permanent installations in schools, libraries, synagogues, and hospitals.

Bette Ann is passionate about the creative experience as a vehicle for community connectivity. To view her recent work visit: The adult mosaic workshops will take place Sunday and Monday, Aug. 26-27, from 12 to 4 p.m. at JCOGS. Participants will learn cutting, cementing, and grouting techniques. Participation fees are sliding scale $100-$180 per person; however, scholarships are available through the Rabbi’s fund. To make this mosaic a reality, there are also sponsorship levels available: Mensch $250 and Sage $360. Whether you can join for one or both days, please RSVP below to assure a spot in this unique community-building workshop. Not to be missed!
